Hard to believe this book was written over a hundred years ago. The story was engaging and the art was gorgeous - lots to discuss and look at on every page. Given the many scathing reviews of "Blood Canticle," I had very low expectations starting in on this. In fact, I finished the book while eating in a Mexican restuarant. The machine turns them into ugly, cantankerous, and embarrassing creatures who follow him everywhere.
