My students (first graders) loved the story - they asked me to read it twice. Do we start from an assumption that humans cannot be fully duplicated because they have a soul. This book has been effective at helping her to build confidence in herself. A stylistic departure from Zola's characteristic Naturalism, it reads almost like a fairy tale. They begin as a bother, a necessary nuisance for finding his sister, but grow into something more. A former commentator on NPR's All Things Considered, his poetry is featured frequently on Garrison Keillor's The Writer's Almanac.
